Human Rights Initiative provides legal services to people who have suffered human rights abuses.  We represent immigrants who have been victims of violence.  Many HRI clients flee their homelands after experiencing torture and imprisonment because of their religious or political beliefs and apply for asylum in the United States.  HRI also handles matters under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act.  We represent immigrants who have been abused at the hands of a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (green card holder) spouse as well as victims of violent crimes who are eligible for U Visas.  HRI also helps immigrant children who are victims of violent crimes, neglect, abuse or abandonment, and human trafficking victims.  Legal services are delivered primarily through the agency’s extensive network of volunteer attorneys.

Human Rights Initiative is committed to providing high-quality legal services free of charge to those seeking asylum, relief under the Violence Against Women Act, Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act, immigrant victims of violent crime and immigrant child victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment.

Your donations help ensure that all of our services continue to be offered, and that all of our clients are granted the proper legal representation they deserve. Thank you for your kind conrtribution and strong commitment to HRI. Wtihout you, our mission would not be possible.
